The built-in bar at The Chestnut Hall, set for an engagement party

Cocktails, congratulations,
and a view.

An engagement party is a cocktail party with better news. It wants a built-in bar, room to circulate, somewhere to step outside, and a backdrop worth the hundred photos people will take without being asked. This room has all four.

The 3,000-square-foot floor holds 120 standing comfortably — scatter high-tops through the middle, put the bar to work, and let the 750-square-foot balcony do what it does best on a warm evening. String lights, rooftops, and the sound of downtown McKinney below.

Bring the caterer you like, or keep it to passed bites and a signature cocktail. There are no in-house vendor contracts here, so a small budget goes exactly where you point it.

Built-In Bar

A fully equipped bar is part of the room, ready for your bartender and a signature cocktail — no rental bar to truck in and set up.

Room to Circulate

120 standing guests, high-top tables included, and a balcony that doubles the space on a good evening — so nobody gets stuck in a corner.

A Trial Run

Couples who host their engagement party here often book the wedding here too. Consider it the most enjoyable venue tour you can run.

Engagement Party FAQs

Questions, answered.

How many guests can an engagement party have?

The Chestnut Hall holds up to 120 guests for a standing, cocktail-style party and seats up to 100 for a dinner. Most engagement parties land between 40 and 90, which suits the room well.

Can we bring our own bartender and alcohol?

Yes. The venue has a fully equipped built-in bar and an open vendor policy — bring your own bartender and beverages, with vendors carrying appropriate licensing and liability insurance.

How much does an engagement party cost to host?

A five-hour rental is $3,000 Monday–Thursday and $3,500 on Friday or Sunday, which covers most engagement parties. That flat rate includes tables, gold Chiavari chairs, high-tops, and setup and breakdown.

Is the balcony available in the evening?

Yes — the 750-square-foot open-air balcony is included with every rental and is at its best in the evening, with string lights and views over historic downtown McKinney.
